In February, 22 rods took to the still waters, and caught 15 trout. The longest was a 53cm beauty landed by A. Payn at Ringstead. Water temperature measurements taken at Turners Cottage were 23 degrees at 3 meters. No anglers took to the rivers. Waters conditions on the rivers have been unpredictable.
In January, on the still waters, 36 rods landed 27 trout. The heaviest was a 2.6kg rainbow caught by S. Senekal at Lunds. In the rivers, 3 rods landed 2 trout of about 350g (L. December was another good month on the still waters, with 58 rods landing 85 trout. The longest was a 69cm beaut, caught by B. Brandis at Lake Ringstead. Fishing on the rivers remained tough with 6 rods landing 2 trout. The longest was 10cm, caught by G. Fendt at Lower Rocks.
The club’s still waters continue to fish well, with 25 rods landing 44 trout. The heaviest weighed in at 5.32kg, and was caught by B. Brandis at Finelands. Ten rods took to the rivers this month landing 17 trout in total, the longest of which was 33cm by M. Pitt at Lower Watermead. On the still waters, 30 rods caught an impressive 64 fish, the heaviest of which was a 4.6kg rainbow trout landed by J. Lund at Finelands. No fishing due to the Covid-19 lockdown. But the fish kept growing.
Fishing in August was a little tougher than in July, but there were still some great fish to be had. On the club’s still waters, 39 rods caught 41 trout. The UHTFC’s still waters fished well in the month of July, with 25 rods producing 74 trout. The heaviest was a 3.96kg rainbow trout, caught by A. Payn at Finelands 1. Water temperatures were recorded at 9 degrees C at 3 meters.
On the club’s still waters, 20 rods caught 17 trout, the heaviest of which was 4.5lbs at Lake Ringstead. There were no bookings made for the club’s river beats.
