January, 2016

January fishing was once again slow due to the conditions. Only 40 fisherman took to the still waters, producing 23 fish between them. All fish were in the 500g – 1kg range, more than likely the stocking from September.

The river beats were opened in the second week of January, thanks to some good rains, and saw 15 rods producing 4 fish in the 300g range.

Conditions are thankfully back to normal although we believe we lost a lot of the fry due to the drought. As a result of this pressure on the July spawn the rivers will be strictly catch and release until they are closed in May.
