June & July, 2011

The months of June and July have been relatively quiet for the UHTFC with the rivers being closed and all the cold weather and snow. Despite the low rod numbers the fishing has been reasonable and on average the fish that have been caught have been larger than earlier in the year. In June we had a total of 21 rods accounting for 14 fish with several being over 2 kg’s. Blair Athol fished particularly well. In July there were only 18 rods taking 14 fish and the biggest was 3kg’s from Lower Ringstead.

The dam temperatures are about 8 degrees at 3m and the rivers are still flowing strongly which bodes well for a good early season when they open.
